NAVARATRI Music Concert Event
with Temple Bhajan Band
Inspiring music and chants by our guest artists Temple Bhajan Band
If you have never heard these wonderful sounds (called kirtan), many
in Sanskrit accompanied by the Indian drum (tabla), harmonium and other
musical instruments, this is your chance to participate!
Navaratri is an annual celebration around fall equinox time honoring the
three major female energies which in India are celebrated as Saraswati
(goddess of learning, arts and music), Laxshmi (goddess of prosperity),
and Durga (fierce protectress mother). This year Navaratri begins on the
new moon (Sept. 25) and ends nine day later with a final Victory Day (Oct.
4) devoted to Durga.
