ART EXHIBIT OPENING
SHE WHO IS:
portraits of the female entranced
featuring Aikya Param, Eban Lehrer, J.Michael Walker
viewing hours for “She Who
Is"are Saturdays, 1- 4pm through September.
Yoginis yogic arts studio of Eagle Rock will feature the paintings
and drawings of Aikya Param, Eban Lehrer and J.Michael Walker in
a group show entitled “She Who Is: portraits of the female
entranced.” Opening night will be Saturday, June 19st with
a summer solstice celebration at yoginis studio starting from 7
– 11pm.
Aikya Param’s acrylic paintings include mythological images
from Native American and Hindu stories including a pair called,
“Her Hair Becomes the Dark Sky” and “Buffalo Woman
Dreams the Day.”
Local artist Eban Lehrer is known for both his monochromatic portraits
that focus on the “eyes as the windows to the soul’
and his vibrantly colorful canvases that distort light and shadow.
J.Michael Walker has created a series of drawings based on local
streets named after saints. Featured in this exhibit is his drawing
of the mystic “Hildegard: A feather on the breath of God”created
with color pencil on paper.
Yoginis director, Margaret “Saraswati” Kruszewska,
has curated ongoing exhibits at the studio celebrating themes of
women’s spirituality and community diversity.
